Born into humble beginnings, Judge Strickland left home at 15 and worked tirelessly to support himself, gaining firsthand experience with the challenges many face in the legal system. His early struggles inspired him to pursue a legal career to defend the rights of others.

His journey to the bench began with service in the South Carolina Army National Guard, followed by work in ranching and farming in North Carolina. Determined to further his education, he attended Wayne Community College before earning his undergraduate degree from Campbell University in 2000. He then obtained his law degree from Regent University while working multiple jobs to support his studies.

Judge Strickland’s legal career started as a law clerk for Judge John Tyson of the North Carolina Court of Appeals. In 2008, he returned to Goldsboro to establish Strickland Law, a firm that has grown into a premier legal practice in Eastern North Carolina with multiple attorneys serving clients across the region.

Beyond his legal career, Judge Strickland has been a dedicated community leader. He has supported organizations such as the Wayne Crisis Pregnancy Center, 3HC Hospice, Ashford’s Gym, and numerous local outreach programs. Committed to mentorship, he has provided pro bono legal services to juveniles and frequently shares his life story to inspire young people facing adversity.

An avid outdoorsman and lifetime NRA member, Judge Strickland actively participates in Delta Waterfowl, Ducks Unlimited, the National Wild Turkey Federation, and Quail Forever. Despite his many accomplishments, he remains deeply connected to his roots, often working on his family’s farm and attending livestock auctions.

Judge Strickland and his wife, Jennifer, whom he met at a rodeo competition, have been married since 1998. They are proud parents of four children: Billy III, Jack, Isaac, and Alexandria. The family resides in Goldsboro, NC, and are active members of Freedom Baptist Church.
