Statement from Jennifer Strickland, Chair, Wayne County Republican Party

With Senator Thom Tillis announcing he will not seek reelection, North Carolina enters a new chapter. While some may view this as the end of an era, we should recognize the value in Senator Tillis making this decision early—giving our party the opportunity to prepare, evaluate strong conservative candidates, and move forward with purpose and unity.

Throughout his time in public service—both in Raleigh and Washington—Senator Tillis has worked to represent the people of North Carolina. Whether or not we agreed on every issue, we can respect the years of dedication and the challenges he faced while serving in high office.

I would also like to take a moment to thank Susan Tillis for her deep commitment to military families, especially through her Red, White & Bundled initiative. Her efforts have provided much-needed support to those who serve, and that impact has been felt here in Wayne County and beyond.

As Republicans, our mission remains clear: to promote candidates who reflect our core values—limited government, individual liberty, strong families, and unwavering support for our Constitution. Wayne County is ready to do our part in shaping the future of our state and electing leaders who won’t just carry the Republican banner but will boldly defend the principles behind it.

We thank Senator Tillis and his family for their service and now turn our attention to the important work ahead.
